Newton Wins Heisman

No surprise tonight as Cam Newton won the Heisman Trophy in one of the most lopsided victories in recent years. It would have been even more one-sided if it wasn't for 100 voters completely leaving Newton off of the ballot.  Allegations or not, Newton deserved it. One friend who is a hardcore Oregon Ducks fan pointed out that Newton, as a quarterback, only has 200 less yards rushing than fellow Heisman Finalist Lemichael James. Here's to one of the most outstanding season's college football has ever seen. Better savior it now Cam.... things are going to get rough.

History tells us the Ducks
 will in the BCS Championship
But what does this mean for the National Championship?

It's over. You can crown the Oregon Ducks as the 2010 BCS champions. Recent Heisman winner's have not fared well in the National Championship. How about Troy Smith, who in 2006 saw his Buckeyes get smacked by Florida a month after receiving his trophy. Jason White in 2003? He lost 21-14 to LSU in the Sugar Bowl, and then got beat again in the National Championship the following year. And then 2001, Eric Crouch claims the Heisman trophy over Miami Hurricanes quarterback Ken Dorsey. Sure it was a joke that the Cornhuskers were in the BCS championship, but regardless they got rocked.

And yes, Mark Ingram overcame the curse. But he wasn't a quarterback....
